Last time I went off a jump I went off it and landed on my back and got the wind knocked out of me. I think i was going fast, but I see many going fast and not falling on their back. Any help? Should I be leaning foward? slowing down? shifting my weight differently?

  1. Take it at a medium speed (if you take it slow you can catch an edge, and if you go fast you are going to fly far and hit hard).

Stay straight up and down and well balanced. Then if you want more air off the jump, bend your knees, and spring right as you hit the lip of the jump. Right before you're about to come down extend your legs, and the bend them to absorb the shock of the landing.

  2. i dunno if this absolutely correct, as i havent done a ton of research or anything, but when i go off jumps, i try to stay off edges. A second before i hit the jump i shift to the center of the board, crouch and spring to get extra air.  When i land, i land the board flat down (NOT ON AN EDGE..ouch) and take the force the same way you do when you jump off a high ledge or something. Take the ramps at a comfortable speed, just make sure you are going fast enough if theres a gap after the jump.

I started learning by jumping off large snowpiles on the side (next to snowmaking machines).

  3. just fall off... easy as that.lean back a bit... but let the momentum push you off.
