How do you get old gum out of carpet?

Freeze the gum with an ice cube, or try hair spray and then you can pick it off pretty easily! Some people use peanut butter but that's too messy for me. Hope that helps you out!

Grab a bag of ice cubes and freeze the gum, that will make it easier to come off.

"A faster way to freeze the gum and remove it from your carpet is by using a can of air meant to clean your electronics. These cans are meant to be used right side up, but if you shake them or turn them upside down you will find they become cold. Turning the can upside down while spraying the gum will spray a shot of liquid onto the gum that freezes it instantly. The modern day solution is Goof Off or Goo Gone.  Goof Off is an aerosol spray can and the scent alone could knock you out, but it works awesomely.  Goo Gone has more off a citrus scent and works well but not as good as Goof Off.  The traditional solution is to freeze it with an ice cube and pick it off.  I just don't have the patience for that though.

Try getting it really cold. Then you can take it off in one piece.

If you don't have any luck with all of the other great answers and the area is small just cut the gum out with scissors.
