  1. It's a common fear...and a valid one. Various people have various ways of handling it. My brother would not fly. My friend gets drunk. Another takes a mild sedative. Me? I don't sleep the night before (or two nights before) so when I get on the plane...I'm soo tired that I don't care if it falls out of the sky. I take my iPod and a good book and I just curl up and sleep. No one bothers me. I remember once I was sitting next to this couple and they were nice enough to get snacks for me (which I didn't want). I normally wake up when the pilot says "Please fasten your seatbelts for landing" :)

  2. First of all, stop watching the news.

Now. Maybe if it's really bad you could buy a cheap domestic flight just for a bit of practice but you don't really need to go that much. Just remember, nothings gonna happen.

    Enjoy greece by the way!

  3. see, you can even meet with an accident when you are walking on the road . there is absolutely nothing you can do about it. realize this fact ,and pray to God if you believe in one. if you crash in a flight at least you can die instantly without bearing much pain

  4. Practice makes perfect my dear. Keep on flying until you're no longer afraid.

  5. Fly some more

  6. Get plastered!

  7. Just get over it

  8. Jump off a plane with no parachute!!! :D!

  9. Nicola,

If you are afraid the plane will crash, understand the last commercial plane crash was in 2006, killing only 47 people.  Compare the amount of deaths in car accidents since 2006 and that is close to 100,000 people. But we still drive. Still more people die of heart attacks and other illnesses while on planes then all plane crashes. Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are about 1 in 11 million. On the other hand, your chances of being killed in an automobile accident are 1 in 5000. Statistically, you are at far greater risk driving to the airport than getting on an airplane.

I flew over 85 thousand miles last year and here is my suggestion: If you are old enough, enjoy a few cocktails before you depart.  If you fly out of Atlanta enjoy a Presidente Margarita at Chillis.  Its not in the international terminal but is worth it.

Remember the trip is about the experience in Greece.  Enjoy your trip.

  10. have your dr give you an rx for some xanex

  11. Take a pill of dramamine.  Or ask your doctor to prescribe a mild ansiolitic.  You will feel groggy or sleepy and forget about the fear.

The other is suck it up and enjoy the trip!
