I had my GCSE exams.. General Certificate of Secondary Education..

I had some pretty good grades.. 1 A*, 5 A's, 4 B's and 4 C's.

The thing is, i had the grade's i wanted to get to get into this grammar school. I looked so forward to it and i worked so hard.. But when i got to the school, the school said that the internal students got average of 9 A's and that they did very well.. They said they had no place for me... that saddened me so much, i still feel low and down about it.. Now i'm going to another school which is not grammar, it is non uniform and people who even get a lower grade than a C can get in there.. No high standards or so.. It's specialist science but yeah.. I worked hard for this and it was a blow to me.. They didn't even check my results because all places are gone.. How can i get over feeling this way and how can i avoid having this happen to me when i want to go to Oxford in two years?

  1. Get used to it, this will likely not be the last time it happens.

You have to be able to stay positive, push through the negative and keep working hard to acheive the things in life that are important to you.

There is always a way to spin a positive outcome out of a (seemingly)negative situation.

It does not sound like you have a whole lot to worry about, so dont. Hard work is important but so is taking time to enjoy life.

  2. it is not the school u go in.......my dad used to study in teh worst school posible in his city but he was successful because of his determination and courage and u do not need to be in a good school for tht .....try ur best and try to relax ....... instead of stressing (the most stressing would do is get ur grades down) try ur best adn then try getting in tht school again if it matters tht much to u

  3. Sorry about your ideal, but as I learned, expectations, abilities, and opportunities sometimes just don't add up. You learn from disappointments and failures, then move on to find out what you're really gifted to do.

What I'm saying is NOT religion, but has to do with relationship. That is, God has created everyone with certain abilities and talents, to be fulfilled in His timing, for His purpose- not man's. He wants us to do everything for Him- love, serve, and become like Him in character. When you establish a relationship with God by accepting Jesus Christ, He will give you understanding and revelation to enable you to maximize your potential that He's created in you. I spent years trying to become an artist, but I just didn't have what it took. I've been told I speak Spanish very well, but I'm not competitive enough. Only when I drew closer to the Lord did He start telling me audibly what He's always wanted me to do: tell others about Jesus.

Please don't waste years like I did in despair, frustration, and aimlessness. The Lord set me free from this and gave me a new beginning (after 20 years!). To let Him lead and guide you in the best direction as He designed you, start a relationship with by praying the following out loud:

"Dear Lord Jesus, come into my heart. Forgive me of my sin. Wash me and cleanse me. Set me free. Jesus, thank You that You died for me. I believe that You are risen from the dead and that You’re coming back again for me. Fill me with the Holy Spirit. Give me a passion for the lost, a hunger for the things of God and a holy boldness to tell others about Jesus Christ. I’m saved; I’m born again, I’m forgiven and I’m on my way to Heaven because I have Jesus in my heart. Amen."

If you meant what you just prayed, Congratulations, and welcome to the family of God! Be sure to tell someone you've accepted Jesus Christ into your life. I'm NOT saying that God is calling you to preach, but you do need to stay in a relationship with Him in order to prosper:

o Talk to God everyday. Let Him have your worries.

o Daily read, practice, and meditate on His Word (the Bible). Try an easy-to-read version, like CEV or The Message. Start reading the book of John. Memorize Proverbs 3:5; Philippians 4:6.

o Make friends and get involved serving at a local Spirit-filled, Bible-teaching church.

o Tell others about Jesus and how He's blessed you.

  4. It is good to set high standards for your self. However, some time we fall short of these goals we set. At any rate, you must not put your self down. I am not going to tell you not to fell bad it ok to fell bad. Kick your self in the butt and do your little crying and move on. You must just chart this up as one of life experiences because you will have many more failures in your life time. How you deal with this situation will prepare you to deal with other unpleasant issues that will come up in your life. Ok, you are at a school that have low achiever's don't let that stop you for your goals because it is an individual process. Now you must set goals even higher so the next time you try to get in a school if there is not a spot they will make one for you.

  6. We all face failure and disappointments, some worse than others.

What do do.  Take some time to "l**k you wounds," so to speak. Then work at making the best of your present situation, that is learning as much as you can and getting the best grades you can in your present school.

Get determined again. Do some extra-curricular study each evening--eliminate an hour of TV.

I would do some research on Oxford to see if you can prepare in anyway to get in.  Maybe even see if you can talk to any admittance personnel.

Most people, even those who are even great successes, got there after a lot of failures.

Hang in there, believe in yourself and God.

  7. Sometimes when we try the hardest is when we fail. That is life. You are smart and you have initiative. Don't let this bring you down in any way. Keep up your hard work, realize that there will be things that you don't want or expect in life that happen...but never let them get you down.

Tenacity!!!! Hold on, even when it's slippery!

    You'll Do Great!
