  1. Let it hit you a couple times and you'll realize it's not a big deal. Not in a game though...haha.

  2. the balls like 8 ounces. haha. pretend its like a pillow or something. idk.:D

  3. ok, when the ball is up in the air dont think about it hitting U YOU HIT THAT BALL. Think about the team and Tournment

  4. When learning to drive a car - you learn to perform an emergency stop! And you practice this, a few times, just to know what it feels like.  So that in driving, when you need to do an emergency stop - you just do it.

I'll take a guess - you may be afraid of the volleyball, when someone spikes at you? And you want to get over this?

If this is the case - which is a problem for everyone --- is to know what to do, in this situation.

If the ball is coming at you high - the only thing you can do, is to cover yourself in some way, but even better is to receive a high fast ball properly. That is to use a two hand technique, which is - one hand makes a fist, the other covers it on top - now, look at the bottom of your hands - you should see a nice flat area there (the part where you normally pound on a desk).

You hold that flat area away from your face - if possible aim it high up, so that you then pass the ball - or you can choose to be aggressive and aim straight over the net, aiming to score a point?  You can practice this technique a few times in your warm up, as a passing technique - so that you know it works, adding it to the moves you can do.

If the ball is low and fast, from a spike - then you simply dig it.  You don't add a swing, because all you do, is let it bounce off you, so that you can pass it to your side for a set...

Practice being very quick in getting ready for either technique - this is your emergency move, which should become instinctive for you. Just register if the ball is high or low, coming at you, and be ready with the right defense.

If in doubt, be ready with a dig - and if high - then duck it, chances it will go out, if high... especially if you're back court.

You should really purchase a cheap practice volleyball (or ask your parents to) which can be used outside anywhere on any hard surface. Constant practice will make you unafraid of the ball in all situations.  Practice with friends - and you will get better and better in no time at all, if you do it regularly as your normal routine to have some fun!

  5. if u wanna play u cant be afraid of the ball

have a good player on ur team hit at u over and over again and have her hit u in the face a few times. trust me u will get over your fear.

  6. practice having someone throw a ball at you

  7. If your afraid of the volleyball why in the freak are you even on the team?

Excuse the point of the game is to hit the ball not to sit there and be afraid of it.

Omg. how in the freak can you even play knowing your afraid.

Why did you even go out for the team if your scared of it.

You just have to get aggressive and go after it.

    It you love it enough.

it wont matter if you get hurt as long as your doing something you enjoy.

  8. just  practice a lot at home. like pass and set to yourself and stuff, and try doing this-

pass to yourself, set to yourself, head it, pass, set, head, etc. believe me, it doesnt hurt nearly as much as getting hit in the face with a soccerball or basketball. hope this helped?

  9. its ok i used to be scared of the ball too.. i was actually hit in the face while wearing gladsses playing volleyball . its hard not to say in front of a fast moving ball.... ask ur team that when a fast hard ball id coming to say its yours and ill move make a up a word to let them know ur getting out of the way but dont do it tooo often becasue then the opposing team will know who to pick on   so that might not be a good idea. try hitting the ball against the wall. and play ball with yourself you shouldnt be scared doing that... or practice with a friend.. practice diving too..... well you should figure something out soon. id just say pretend its someone u really hate lol and hit the ball.. its a stress release and your hit the ball.. so its all good lol. good luck have fun at the game.. dont worry youll do good. practice, its the only way to go.

  10. lets just say that in bumping and stuff, going TO the ball hurts Much less tahn having the balll come to u

  11. quit the team

  12. well, just keep practicing, practice a lot

wit friend or wit ur bro or sis

may they can help u..im sure u'll get over it

    hope this helped :0)

  13. Just make sure that you are under the ball and always paying attention! Don't get sidetracked! Remember, YOU are hitting the ball, not the other way around! Be strong! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

  14. The ball is nothing to be scared of. Really. What can it do to you? The worst thing that can happen is it can hit you in the face, and trust me, it really doesnt hurt that bad. It hurts for a second and then the pain is gone. I swear. So get out and hit that ball because you can do alot more harm to it than it can do to you.

  15. I would run from that ball like a bat out of h**l if I were you.  My dad's friend had a volleyball break his neck in practice one day.  Just kidding, it only broke his nose.  The people my dad plays with spike really hard, and one guy got hit on the bridge of the nose.  You know those really flexible/strong sports glasses?  the guy was wearing those and they shattered.

That is really an isolated incident though. just think about this:  if you're scared of it you're probably in a girls' (no offence w that one) middle or highschool volleyball team, in which case the ball really won't do anything but leave a giant red mark on your face if it hits you.  As a matter of fact, I just overcame a big fear of mine and maybe if you try this you'll figure volleyball isn't so bad:  well first of all I did a backflip.  I am scared shitless of  flipping in a direction that i can't see where I'm going.  Second of all I did a backflip off a highdive.  I'm also scared shitless of heights.  since you swim alot maybe you've already done both of those, but to overcome a fear face it.

I just had a good idea... to get over your fear, let people spike a bunch of volleyballs at you.  May sound stupid, but it should get your fear down enough that you can laugh at it.
