  1. No, basically most are fearful. I have been afraid of water since young, but due to the constant daring by my parents and friends, I decided to place my toes in first, I noticed there was nothing to be afraid. Now, I advance to diving. Just treat it that your favourite treat is there, then you must jump to get it, so just be fearless and good luck in overcoming it.

  2. I'm also scared of deep water. But I'm competing on an ocean swim next month. The best way to overcome this fear is to take baby steps. Swim near the beach first, then dare yourself to go further and further. Focus on a goal and how to reach it and you'll forget you're even scared.

  3. I used too but i tried enrolling myself in a swimming class it made me feel confident that I can swim and I dnt need to fear deep waters. maybe we should try it also

  4. Well im not i dont no about other people. This is why.  I joined a swimming class at the Dutchess County YMCA  and someone helped me. It worked for me. I started out being afraid but now I can tread water for 12 minutes in the deep end!!!!! I am also now on the Dutchess Devilfish Swim Team. I have meets all the time! They really help! What im saying is go there and ask!! Well take care!!!

P.S Go to this link to find out more info about the Dutchess County YMCA swim Program.  Y'll take care now!http://www.dutchesscountyymca.org/fallaq...

  5. well i used to be like that when i was a kid and my dad and i got certified to scuba dive and now that i've dove in deep water i know there's nothing to fear its just sand or mud down there nothing more or less. nothing is going to swim up and get you unless your afraid of minnows nibbling at your toes ;)

  6. Realise how truly beautiful deep water is by wearing googles

  7. I was afraid of deep waters and was hit in head by a swimmer using a training paddle at 6ft in the past.  I panicked at first and asked for help but was instructed by the pool keeper to get air and swim (since I already have the basics that time).

My suggestion is that you take small steps by challenging yourself - go slowly if needed.  Threading also helps in maintaining yourself afloat. As long as you know your basic swimming skills, everything is possible.

  8. not alone! i have many friends that fear deep sea! i dive often but i still have concerns over unsupervised swimming in the deep sea. remember once when i was swimming at the beach and i just had this cramp attack. Was lost & helpless, swallowed a great deal of water before someone spotted me. Who knows what may come? Take care ya!
