How do you get over your first car accident?

I was going through the Wendy's Drive-Thru and by trying to avoid the poles around the speaker box, I ran into the back of a jeep that was in front of me. I can't get it out of my head from thinking about how ignorant I was in the mistake I made. How do you get over this and move on?

  1. Stuff happens to everyone.  I do a lot of automotive work myself because I enjoy it.  I rotated tires or did a brake job or something, a long time ago.  Late that night I was driving and I thought, hm, something doesn't seem right.  So I stopped and checked the lug nuts and sure enough, they were all loose.  Not much farther, and they would have all been off.

So yeah we all have done things.

  2. Do it again....you will get used to it.

  3. laugh if off. I hit a lady in a mini van once. it was hilarious

  4. Just make up your mind to learn from it, and go on.

Sounds like you were pulling too close to the speaker.     The best way to avoid this in the future is to park and go in.     Several advantages......

    1.    You can see them put the order together,   and catch mistakes before  you leave.      2.   Making the effort to go in takes the convenience factor out,   meaning if you really don't want it bad,  the money stays in your pocket.    3.   The excercise will help keep those french fries from settling across the seat as quickly.

  5. A car accident is called an accident for a reason.

I know the feeling, you wake up the next day hoping the accident didn't really happen.

There's also a feeling of ruining your record....it's okay...you're still a good driver!!

    It will fade with time.

Just keep driving & don't be so hard on yourself.

    I forgive you!!!!...Now forgive yourself.!!!

  6. You didn't do it on purpose... just know everyone makes mistakes.  You made one and hopefully you were kind to the person you hit and offered to help in some way.  That's all you can do.

  7. As the saying goes, when you fall off that horse get straight back on it.

    Have a few refresher lessons.

It may not seem like it now but what you went through will make you a better and safer driver.

    Good Luck.
