My dad gave me his living room set which I LOVE. Its an oversized chenille couch set - amazing! Anyways, he had a german shepard that he let just hang out on the sofa. By the time I got the sofa, it reeked of dog! I decided to get it professionally cleaned but when it was all said and done, it was cleaner but still stinky. I tried febreeze and then tried the pet odor febreeze and nothing has worked... any suggestions? Im really sad about it!

  1. get rid of the pets..they are a nuisance anyways..

take the money u spend on their maintenence and give it to someone in a third world nation who starve to death everyday.

they will thank you for life.

  2. febreeze

or use a rug doctor on it

idk anything else that would work =( sorry

my dog isnt allowed on the couch for that exact reason, hes allowed on the foot rest though and he doesnt smell bc i bathe him frequently

  3. Can you put it outside for a while to let it air out?  Avoid direct sunlight so it doesn't fade, though!  It's likely that the stench is down into the padding, so I don't think there are any real quick fixes for it.  Hopefully, over time it will air out enough.  I'd stock up on Febreez until then!

  4. fabreeze..

  5. odor ban. you can buy it at Sams. it's used to get rid of smells far worse than dog. Morgues and hospitals use it.

  6. You could try letting baking soda sit on it for a few hours, then vacuuming it up. Sprinkling coffee beans also works.

If you would rather use an actual product though, here are the best odor removing fabric and carpet fresheners: http://www.viewpoints.com/Cleaning-Produ...

Nature's Miracle appears to lead for fabric scent removal, where as Citrus Magic should take care of all of your fabric woes. Just a tip, remember to flip the cushions while you are cleaning and get all sides/surfaces to truly remove the scent.

  7. The dog ruined it beyond salvation.  You can steam clean pet odor from the surface of upholstery.  But, it is impossible to steam clean all the way down through the furniture padding.  If the chenille upholstery is what you love, then forget saving it.  If you love the style of the furniture, you can have it stripped down to the frame, and reupholstered with all new padding ... IF the pet odor hasn't permeated the wood framing, which it may very well have.
