Question:

How do you get plastic drywall anchors out of the wall?

yeah i messed up my entire bathroom wall trying to install a towel bar... and besides ugly holes in the wall, i also now have those stupid plastic anchors STUCK in a few of them. How do you get those out?

Please just answers if you have em, no "you should have done this or that"... thanks

  1. Replace screws enough to hold then using a claw hammer pull them out.


  2. repod said it right-try over sized s***w to get better grip

  3. tap them in a little, then plaster over them, that way you are not punching them thru and you have something to back up the plaster

  4. I usually thread the s***w in a few turns by hand and pull. they pop right out. ( i removed about 20 of them yesterday like this). if they are stubborn use the claw side of a hammer on the s***w like your removing a nail.

  5. I just knock them in the wall and putty over them....its going to be the easiest thing to do.......just put a screwdriver over the anchor and tap with a hammer....it may come out but might loose it in the wall

  6. Either yank them out with needle nose pliers, or take a punch and a hammer and drive them the rest of the way through. Then Patch with Dura Bond.

  7. Can't do any better than Repobud1's answer.   Go for it!
