  1. Get noticed!  Play or sing at all kinds of events and make sure that when you do perform that you either make a demo tape or have someone of importance in the crowd to listen to you.  Sooner or later, if you have the talent, you will get noticed and a record deal may insue.  Hiring an agent to work on your behalf can be done to enhance your bargaining power.
