How do you get rid of Vista Anti-virus 2008??

I already have NOD32, and AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5. I ran a scan to clear all virus on the computer and its fine now. But this Vista Anti-virus 2008 thing keeps saying it wants me to active it, because its an unregister version, but i dont want it!!

Do NOT activate it, you will end up with many more problems, the following will remove it for free:

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware:

Download, install, update and select Full Scan.

Remove all infections that it finds after scan.

Spybot S&D:

Download, install, update and Immunize, turn off Tea Timer then click 'Check for problems' then when complete select all and then 'Fix Checked'

Spyware Doctor Free Basic Edition - Realtime monitoring:

Its free with Google pack, untick all boxes except Spyware Doctor. Download install, update and run.

SUPERAntiSpyware Free Edition:

Download, install, check for updates, then select Scan your Computer, select your drive and select Perform Complete Scan

VundoFix:

Disconnect your computer from the internet

Run vundo

Restart your computer

Run the tool again to ensure no traces are left.

If there are the reboot into Safe Mode and run FixVundo again.

Note: You should hit all "Repair" buttons even though it may not say "Found!" This will fix a wallpaper hijack everytime if all repair buttons are pressed.

That bit of malware is a massive pain. It's constantly renamed and renewed and it looks just like the real thing. Sometimes the utilities can't kill it but try a few of them first. I think I got rid of it last time with "SUPERAntispyware". There is help here and more links to other versions of the virus within the page.

Once you have removed the infections keep Avast and download Comodo Pro firewall, then switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with IE this should stop it returning. (links on my profile)

EASY SOLUTION:

Our computers got this nasty thing too. I was able to get rid of it, but it took more than one solution. I've outlined the steps for you to easily follow below.

This is a BAD program that installs many files onto your computer and reeks havoc. It drops TOO MANY file to delete individually.

These tools do an EXCELLENT job, and the "home' versions are FREE to the public.

Avast free Home Edition

And please do a "thorough" scan as soon as you get it downloaded. The user interface is simple. Click the left side, and in the top menu that comes up, select thorough scan.

When it finds a culprit it throws up an alarm, then you DELETE the culprit, (do not quarantine).

Then allow it to run all of the time, and you will be completely protected. It will "automatically" update itself, also for free.

You only need to renew your registration once a year, also free.

Note: I KNOW of several people who have used AVG and Norton and have gotten a virus anyway.

Don't go with Zone Alarm as it is hoggy and conflicting.

I've tried them all, and have had wonderful results with DEPENDABLE AVAST for the last 5 years.

The corporation I work for uses the Pro version, and has never has an incident. Avast is your answer.
