I foolishly got a Jack Donkey , instead of a Jenny or a John to take care of my goats and protect them from coyoties. I have sinse found out Jacks don't protect they kill the goats. Now the Jack has turned on me and I can't even go into the feild without risking my life. The donkey has my whole pasture and my goats are in a small pen off the barn; where they get stuck in the fense a 100 times a day. I can't even get them out until Jack goes up on the hill. I ask a vet and he said get rid of him, And that gelding won't help now. I have put up adds, tried giving him away free, The local sell barn won't take him without papers he doesn't have , it is a nightmare. My goats are miserable, I'm miserable, and it is almost time to rotate the cattle and can't with him there. PLEASE Help...( no one has sold me the brookland Bridge or swamp land yet, but the days not over yet)

  2. Call the vet back.. put him down.

  3. I'm suprised that your vet says castration won't help him.  It won't immediately change his behavior, but in about 30 days, once the testosterone is out of his system, I would think it would help.  No guarantees, but worth a shot.  But then, you also have to combat the learned behavior that he thinks he's king of the universe and that he has your number.  He needs some behaviour modification from someone with experience with equids.  I would check around in your area and see if there are any donkey or equine rescues in your area that would take him in, although it's not the easiest thing to do right now, most, if not all rescues are bursting at the seams with unwanted equids.  You might try a craigs list ad, or dreamhorse.com, which allows free text ads.
