How do you get rid of a firewall?

My computer doesnt have a firewall on it but the brick wall is still showing in front of the globe on limewire stopping me from downloading does any body know any answers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled limewire twice now and its no making any difference. If i have got a hidden firewall i cant find the how do i go about finding it?

i will help you go to limewire and download without removing your firewall

1. click start menu

2. click control panel

3. click windows firewall

4. click on the tab exceptions

5. you should see a box with limewire.

6. check the box. if not add the program and the port

7. you should be able to see the port by searching on limewire

If you're running Windows XP then you have a built in firewall in the system.  

To find it go to Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Exceptions Tab, it is there you can make changes to the system.  Make sure that the Limewire program is added to this list and you shouldn't have a problem.

There is also the possibility that you have a router firewall that is blocking the ports you need to access.  For that it's a little more complicated.

All windows based PC have firewall it is by default it is windows own firewall

u can check it in security settings in control panel and turn it off.

yes windows firewall can block limewire from connecting to internet

so it is adviced to switch of windows firewall
