How do you get rid of a very bad husband?

Question

Belittling, degrading, physical abuse, mental abuse, child abuse. Financially irresponsible, dead beat that won't work. Has affairs and is blatant about it. I am her uncle and feel so bad for her yet I don't know how to help, she lives 400 miles away. I would go and help, but what should I be doing? I really need some help from someone who knows how to deal with a real bad husband.

She might like all that.  Some people have no self esteem and feel this is all they deserve.  And if she has no education, she's stuck.  And please don't offer to bail her out financially on any permanent basis. You can offer to help her get back into school, with the understanding that if she drops out, so does your assistance.  But sweetie, you really might have misjudged the lady.  Lots of women love being with an abuser.  It's macho....he's paying attention to her, and any attention at all is better than being ignored...  Sick?  Yes.  Abnormal?  Absolutely.  Common?  Unfortunately, yes.

You need to know what SHE wants, if anything.  She may regard her situation as perfectly normal.

Does she want help?.  If she does and the child abuse allegations are true tell her to go to the police and press charges.
