How do you get rid of a virus

I would use Malwarebytes to remove the issues, however pieces still could remain so if your still having issues check out this site http://www.nicklockard.com

I recently got a virus, and McAfee didn't do anything. I downloaded free samples of SPYWARE Removal, LAVASOFT, and AYG. I learned how to work them, which is easy, and got rid of it. Just search for free Anti-Virus stuff on the internet or use the ones I used above. If it is a particularly hard virus to say bye-bye to, then you might have to buy some Anti-Virus Software.

start > search > files and folders > search when it was modified

enter the parameters as the date which you think you got the virus.  ie. search all files modified between 8-4-08 and 8-5-08 then look for any exe files that look odd.  When you find one google it to see if its a virus.
