How do you get rid of an arnadillo in your garden?

I have an armadillo that is killing my landscaping> How do it get it to away.

I once had an armadillo that destroyed a 20-foot flowerbed overnight.  It looked as if someone had dug up my landscaping and flung it all over the yard.  Armadillos dig like this because they're after those tasty grubworms.

I tried the castor-oil armadillo repellent without luck.  Then I sprinkled cayenne pepper (finely-ground red pepper) throughout my yard.  The armadillo immediately decided the neighbor's yard was tastier and moved on.  I didn't feel guilty, because the neighbor had 14 dogs that pretty much destroyed their landscaping anyway!

When an animal (cat, dog, armadillo) sniffs the pepper, they get a hot snootful and move on.  It isn't cruel; I use cayenne pepper to keep my 9 cats out of my houseplants and mulch.  And the cayenne pepper doesn't harm the plants or soil.

Our animal control only deals with cats on dogs so that may or may not work.

Do you have a garden or are the just in your landscaping?

Moth balls could help on the outer portions of your property. They won't like the strong scent and since its way out on your property line you shouldn't smell it.

You could always get a cat trap or other animal trap and put in some cat food or scraps. It will catch them in a humane way and then you can get rid of it.

Get a high powered pellet rifle, take careful aim, and shoot the vermin.  You will have to hit him in the head, because they are armored.  Or you could buy a trap and trap him, or just call a professional.
