  1. How do blacksnakes get to your hummingbird feeder?  I would just switch to a hanging feeder, which would keep the birds safe from other predators as well.

    As for the black snakes, getting rid of them might be a bad idea-- black snakes aren't venomous, and although they can get big and a little scary, they eat snakes that are more dangerous.  I don't know where you live, but I live in the Southeast and the black snakes around my house take care of most of the dangerous snakes on my property-- cottonmouths especially.


  2. The best way is to eliminate the food source. But assuming you want to keep the hummingbirds around, there's chemicals out there like this:

    You can also do a search using "snake repellent" on google to come up with a bunch of hits on this too.

  3. cut off the head  eventually there won't be any more

  4. Lime (or a shotgun) or they make this stuff that I believe is called snake-b-gone
