How do you get rid of hornets!!!????

Question

I weed-ead a ladys yard behind me and there is about 6 hornets in her back yard by her house. I went back over there and they have 2 nest in the ground. I poured some kerosene in them and they didnt come out, but we could see where the hole in the ground was.. How do you kill them completelry,, they are huge and scary haha.

Spray cans and do it at dusk.........the cans shoot about 20 feet........soak it and cover it with a bucket.........in the morning they will all be sleeping..........buy 3.......you will probably take one back..........but better too much than not enough.  Have fun

Well,a qualified pest  exterminator,should help.

Your local city council office could possibly send the resident pest control officer ~I guess?

They sell hornet killing spray at stores like Home Depot and

Wal Mart. That should do the trick!

they are a harmless wasp called a cicada killer..the female was probably out hunting cicadas in which they paralyze and fly them back to the hole in the ground... when several are in there she lays an egg that hatches and the larvae feeds on the cicadas and they will emerge this time next year.  The male will stay around the nest site and fly at you but they have no stinger

an insecticide dust placed in the opening at night should kill the wasp the next day

only female wasps have stingers,  if it is the cicada killer you are seeing,  what you see buzzing around will be the males (no stinger)...I have never heard of a person or pet being stung by a cicada killer (sure it could happen) so as stated they are considered harmless
