How do you get rid of monkey vine?

It is a vine that has been growing and smothering a tree I have in my backyard,

vines can be quite beautiful and maintanance free. try just trimming to get the shape you want and then periodically just trim it back so it will stay below the desired height. for instance just wrapped around the trunk of the tree 5 feet high. people often work hard at getting the english ivy to do the same thing. good luck..

Monkey Line Vine is very hard to destroy because its  large roots reach over 5m and entwine with the tree roots. You can trim the vine every year, or follow the instructions for removal of poison ivy vine (below), but it may kill your tree also. I hope it helps.
