How do you get rid of mourning doves?

I've had four mourning doves sit on my wooden porch chairs for the last week, and they don't seem to go away when I shoo them! They've pooped all over my chairs. What should I do?

What a nice life you wish to create, an outside environment devoid of life. Why don't you look at part of your lawn maintenance to be washing off your chairs with a hose?

A 12 gauge shotgun and some birdshot will do the trick nicely.  Then you'll only have one last mess to clean up.

They are quite tasty if you can catch them, they are skittish creatures thanks in part due the the United States making its cousin extinct from over hunting the Passenger Pigeon, I like them around because they are a native bird

glue a row of thumb tacks where they perch (pointy side up), they should fly off in a huff.
