How do you get rid of pesky black ants and spiders?

Out of nowhere Black Sugar Ants have invaded my home from one end to the other. There hasn't been rain here in for a some time now. So, I'm guessing their making their selves at home. Spiders seem to come out of the wood work all of a sudden. I have a seven month old little girl that I don't won't bitten. I'm trying to find a safe way to kill these pests without harming my daughter. The local pest control is charging way more than we can afford right now. I have tried TERRO and ant poison. I've even put a boundary around my home to no avail. Any ideas and advice will be welcome.

What type boundary? Be careful of poisons because of your child and pets. Find out where the ants are coming in from. To do this you have to go outside and go slowly around the house and find their path into the house. You can buy a bug spray and following the perimeter of the house, spray all along the outside. Spiders will come in from any where. Just kill them as you find them. The only house spider I worry about is the Brown Recluse. he bites and can make you sick, You will have to see a doctor for treatment.
