My mother has really bad allergies to just about everything. Once thing that she's alergic to is Mold. We recently found mold growing in our apartment and since then they have sprayed it to kill it and supposedly taken care of it but, her post nasal drip has not gotten any better and she's coughing this horrible body shaking cough that's keeping her awake at night. She hasn't had a decent nights sleep in weeks and I'm getting concerned for her. She doesn't want to go to the doctor and I would prefer an herbal remedy as well. The problem is I don't know any. Please help my mom get some sleep! Thank you!

  1. Ask her to get up early in the morning and bath in cold water.  Half of her allergy will be gone.  For the rest tell her and convince her there is nothing called allergy.  The word allergy has got imprinted in her sub conscious mind and when ever she sees something which she feel allergic to, the subconscious mind is commanding the release of hystamines which is causing those bodily disturbances.  She need to self hypnotise herself into believing there is no allergy.  To my mind, it is always the disturbed body defence mecahnism is what we identify as allergic reactions.  The actual mecahnism responsible in the body which has been slightly imbalanced has to be set right and the body mechanism will function normally.  For this we first of all need to recognise and understand what are the normal functions of a body defense mechanism.   Many people in their vanity have forgotten the functions of the body itself.   If there is a cold., they immediately take cold tablets and snuffs etc.  Cold is a method by which the body expells the toxins and dirt accumulated in the portion above the nose including all parts of the head.  It flushes out all germs, dirts and toxins.  We stop it by medicines, the results are sinusitis and other complications.  Similarly itching, when there is itching, in the name of allergy, we immediately take antihystamines.  What does they do? Do they correct the reasons for the itching, they do not.  They regulate the flow or suppress the flow of hystamines and thereby we do not feel the itching, and we are deceived to think that the problems have been solved.  While the malady is growing to different proportion in the body which later is called as urticaria or the kind of itchings which are named differently as dermatological problems.

    Thus, the impaired body defense mechanism is basic cause for most of the so called allergies in individuals.

    There are specific medicines to deal with most of the root causes.  If the allergy is related to nose, phlegm, Sinus and the like, Allium Cepa 30 or 200 as the case may be with minimum doses of may be three doses clear up oldest of the old cases.   Followed by Natrum Mur 200 to regulate the flow.  In some cases, Nux Vomica clears up the ill effects of medicines taken earlier and correct the body mechanism.  In some other cases, where dermatological aspects are prominent, Sulphur 30 helps.   If connected with lungs and asthmatic, antim tart 30 has been found helpful alongwith Arsenic Album 200.  In the cases of urticaria, Rhus Tox,200 has been of immense walue. In the case of so called dust allergies, a dose or two of Pothos or Nux Vomica have been found curative.

         If you consult a good doctor, I don't think it is a serious matter and your mother should suffer any longer.  with best wishes.

    PS:  Following medicines are good for post nasal catarrh and droppings through posterior snares :

    Corallium Rub.  , Elaps Cor., Hydrastis Can., Kali b***h., Lycopodium, Ammonium Carb., Mentholium, Spigelia, Sulphur, Teucrium Mar.

    Above is information.   Medicines have to be administered in consultation with doctor.

  2. Frequent stuffy nose or postnasal drip that lasts for several hours after meals and clearing your throat frequently after eating are  symptoms of having a delayed allergic reaction to foods that you are eating ....... immediate food allergies give prompt and dramatic evidence of their presence..... delayed food allergies, on the other hand, can be more subtle and difficult to recognise.......... keep a detailed food journal and record the foods you eat and how you feel throughout the day to enable you to recognise the symptoms of a delayed food allergy....... could be milk and dairy products or wheat or even the sugar contained in high sugar fruits such as oranges, apples, bananas, mangoes ........ lactose & wheat intolerance unfortunately usually go hand in hand......  believe me, the difference it will make to her health & vitality once she pinpoints and eliminates foods to which she is allergic or intolerant will be enormous.

    Other symptoms of delayed food allergies are ~

    Chronically swollen glands

    Chronic digestive problems, including the symptoms of IBS;

    Recurring infections such as sinusitis, tonsilitis, ear, respiratory, urinary and so forth;

    Recurring inflammatory conditions, such as gastroinestinal inflammation, arthritis etc.;

    Difficulty losing excess weight;

    Unexplained bouts of severe fatigue after eating;

    Tendency to hold water that is not associated with the menstrual cycle;

    Dark circles under your eyes (sometimes called allergic shiners);

    Anxiety and heart palpitations withing several hours of eating;

    Unexplained skin rashes;

    history of gallbladder disease;

    history of acne;

    history of antiobiotic use;

    Mental fogginess after eating;

    Bouts of low blood sugar;

    headaches ............... read a book called "What your Doctor May Not Tell you About IBS" by Richard N. Ash, M.D. and eliminate your symptoms and live a pain free, drug free life ..

    Ditch the milk and dairy products i say ........ many many people find it extremely hard to digest lactose contained in milk and dairy products.

    Take a calcium & vitamin D3 rich supplement perhaps in a liquid form (easiest to assimilate) to ensure you get all your calcium on a daily basis ..........and pump up your intake of fresh fish such as salmon and tuna and leafy and green vegies & fresh fruits~ the vegies are rich in both calcium and protein and the fish are rich in magnesium (antistress mineral), protein, EFA's~ essential fatty acids which are also fantastic for lowering blood pressure,levelling out any mood or stress levels you may have and bolstering your immunity, calcium and vitamin D (the vitamin D is essential for effective calcium absorption) .

    The calcium found in vegies and fruits has a greater impact on bone health than calcium from dairy products anyways.... a study published in The Americal Journal of clinical nutrition (2002) found that a high intake of vegies and fruits has a positive impact on bone health, but dairy did not.

    Dairy products contain animal proteins, which speed the elimination of calcium from the body and make it more acidic. This can cause calcium to leach from the bones and cause problems with magnesium (essential for healthy nerve and muscle functioning and for heart health ~ known as the antistress mineral) absorption, leading to osteoporosis. In addition, we absorb only 30 percent of the calcium found in milk, compared to 40 to 70 percent of the calcium found in vegies and fruits.

    pretty disturbing actually when you consider the way the milk and dairy industry pump us with their commercials to drink more milk !!

    Cow's milk contains proteins that are difficult for humans to digest; when these undigested proteins enter the lower digestive system, they putrefy and cause digestive problems. Dairy products encourage the production of excess mucus in the body, burdening the respiratory, digestive and immune systems. Not surprisingly, when you ditch the milk and dairy people more often than not experience markedly fewer colds and sinus & respiratory infections.

    Lactose intolerance can cause acid reflux, alternating bouts of constipation & diahorrea and will also lead to a compromised digestive system thus laying the groundwork for a body which is extremely susceptible to developing nose, throat, sinus, ear, bronchial, bladder and other infections as well....... Other symptoms of lactose intolerance are mucous in the stools, bloating and cramping, digestive troubles such as constipation, belching and burping, gassiness and wet f*arting (sorry, no other way to say it), ribbony and stringy shaped bowel movements or rabbit pellet shaped movements are all symptoms of lactose intolerance.

    Please also ensure that whichever supplement you decide to buy doesn't contain any lactose, wheat, yeast, gluten, preservatives or flavorings, sugar or yeast as none of these have any place in a good quality supplement anyways.

    Your mom has only vibrant health & vitality to gain by ditching the milk and dairy products mate ............. i sincerely do wish you the very best of health & vitality ♥

    peace 2 u

    cheers
