We have two cats and it makes our house smell really bad. I don't know how to get rid of this smell. Also they have fleas. I don't know how to describe the smell though. It isn't cat pee or p**p.

  1. I have a smelly house too, courtesy of my English bulldog and the mass quantities of drool that flows from his mouth every day.  The only way I can combat the dog-stink is to vacuum every day with the Love My Carpet powder specially formulated for people with pets, and to Febreze every surface in sight about once a day.  It's either that or get rid of my Manny (which is out of the question) or live in a stinky house (which is also out of the question.)

As for the fleas- get them a flea-and-tick collar through the vet, and get the exterminator in to spray for the fleas which are already in your house.

  2. Move.  Leave your stinky pets behind.  Gross....

  3. Dont listen to that first guy, he obviously doesnt know what its like to have pets. No one with a heart just leaves animals behind... what a jerk.

Try making sure that you clean the litterbox frequently, the more cats you have, will determine how frequently you need to change the litterbox.

I have 3 cats, and i clean thier litterbox everyday, it doesnt smell in my house.

Another thing you can do, to get rid of the smell, is open all of your windows, and let some fresh air in, it will help eliminate the smell. Shampoo your carpets, because your cats may be going to the bathroom on your floors and you just dont know it, its easy to miss. Urine saturates carpets, and giving them a good, deep cleaning will really improve the smell from your carpets as well.

Keep your cats clean as well, try keeping them in the house to avoid the fleas, fleas WILL get them if they go outdoors.

    Good Luck, hope i've helped!

  4. Hi

Are your cats males??? If so the smell could be the stuff they spray when they havent been spayed. Get them done if this is the case and it will stop them spraying cos this really stinks....

  5. Assuming you've narrowed down the odor source to cat, make sure the litter box is kept immaculately fresh- this is the most common source of cat related odor.  If not kept clean, a cat may decide to eliminate elsewhere.  Make sure you do the sniff test of potential surfaces your cat might do their thing and treat the surface accordingly.  You can use odor absorbent crystal or neutralizers(sold commercially)  in the litter box room. Obviously, keeping the cat well shampooed is important; may supplement with commercial  wipes to get rid of coat odor.
