  1. Sprinkle moth balls around your house and important areas, there is a chemical in them that they cant stand and it will drive them away. Keep in mind that they are still toxic and can hurt small children and houshols pets so it is effective, and dosent hurt the snakes, but still be careful.

    Good luck

  2. shoot them, or get a pet hawk.

  3. I live along a river and in the bushland of Australia and we have a fenced backyard and have two dogs, we've lived here for 3 yrs and never seen a sniff of a snake and believe me there are plenty around my area, good luck with your problem.........

  4. pending on where you live and whether you have venomous snakes or not is a way to gauge how you cope with the problem .

i live in north queensland and my property is full of taipans --- but the are shyest of all snakes --- until you corner them --- best recommendation for any snake is to pass them up --- or turn the water hose on them .

    good luck .

  5. Samuel L Jackson could do it.

  6. get some cats

  7. park a plane in your backyard!

  8. If they aren't dangerous invite neighborhood boys over to snake hunt. My kids love finding snakes.

  9. Import a few Mongooses as pets.

    No more snakes.

  10. Get a weasel

  11. If they are not poisonous, leave them alone. If you chase away all the snakes, you will be inviting rodents into your garden. Snakes eat mice and rats, not to mention insects. Snakes are a garden's friend.

  12. Leave your door open

  13. moth balls, put them in your yard

  14. Snakes are there because something is attracting them.   Food, water, shelter....   It would be good if you could give me an idea of the type or types of snakes coming there.    For most, they come for rodents, so getting rid of mice, rats, rabbits, etc, goes a long ways to reducing the snakes.   Move any wood piles away from the house.  Any sort of stuff that are seldom moved makes a good breeding ground for rodents and a good hiding place for snakes,  so get rid of any things like that.    Keep your grass cut short.   They aren't real happy about being out in the open if they have a choice.

I worked in a feed and seed store for years and the farmers always bought sulfur dust to deter snakes from sheds, barns,  and hen houses.   But they also said if they were already in, it would keep them in instead,  and it has to be reapplied if it gets wet.

I actually like to have them around as long as they aren't poisonous.  The king snakes,  mole snakes , and assorted black snakes (rat, racer, pilot)  eat up the food that could other wise attract the copper heads.   Of course the green snakes are just so darn pretty it is always a pleasure to see one of them.   I have identified 10 different non poisonous species in my yard over the years.

Glad I don't live in taipan country.   I might feel differently if the poisonous ones were more common.
