I clipped my horse the other day, but after I was done there were still little 'prickles', about an eighth to a quarter inch long left on her muzzle and chin. Is there any way to get rid of these? The clipper won't cut them any closer

  1. if your horse is calm, then you can try scissors with rounded ends (not pointed).

  2. Determine first how important it is to make the prickles go away.  Are you doing this for a show or just to make them look nice for every day?

If you absolutely need a clean crisp clipping:

First, use the smallest blade possible (I use a 45 when clipping muzzels.  Next, try putting after shave lotion on after clipping - try to find one with out alchohol or  it's going to sting a bit so be prepared for them to balk.  The sting only lasts a moment and if you remain calm and speaking in a soothing, encouraging manner they should be fine.  I always offer lots of love both during and after (ok, just plain always).

  3. there are these little purple razors they make for horse muzzles and theyre just like disposable razors and they work so well. i dont even like to use the electric ones unless im doing the ears
