Question:

How do you get rid of track lines, curves at the top of video, and noise bars in my old videotapes?

I'm trying to fix the tracking on videotapes so that I can record the clear video to dvd. (These are home movies and personal recordings by the way) But when I try to play them in my vcr / dvd recorder combo, I cannot make the track lines go away, or the image starts making a "buzzing noise". The recorder is new, but the tapes are 6-8 years old, depending the tape. I had noticed before when I play them on the vcrs on which they were originally recorded, I get no track lines but these machines have long since stopped working and are no longer produced.

  1. Hi Jo,

I have had some success with "Sima T120 GoDVD". It removes the copy guard (if the tape has copy guard) and enhances the picture. You plug your source into it and plug it into the input of your recorder.

Here is an example of one - http://www.heartlandamerica.com/browse/i...

Another one that will work is the Digital Video Stabilizer.  They work like a charm. Go here to read about and see an example - http://www.qualitekindustries.com/vidsta...

Don't get me wrong - this won't completely correct a bad picture but it does make a significant difference in quality.
