How do you get rid of yellow jackets under ground?

I have a yellow jacker problem in my backyard. There is a nest under the ground. How can get of them ? I have a party in a week with little kids. HELP

Use some diesel fuel and about dark, pour it on the hole where they are going in and light it.Be very careful, and DO NOT USE GASOLINE.then you will need to dig it with a hoe or madock.

Black Flag or similar wasp and hornet spray will work fine since it has a residual effect.  Most of the time you wait until they are all in side but since it is in the ground you would have to get them coming and going so anytime they are active during the day.

i use flammable stuff  i have used a m-80(county use only) but gas diesel, kerosene or use yellow jacket spray i would go out at night use the whole can if you have to then take enough dirt to cover the hole up

There are several ways to kill them without using chemicals.  I read this in an article by gardening guy Mike McGrath for WTOP.com in DC.  He says you can smother them by putting a heavy tarp and rocks over the hole - do it at night when they aren't active.   Or you can put the nozzle of a shop vac in the hole at night and turn it on the next morning.   The bees will attack the hose and get sucked up.  Leave the vacuum out in the sun for a couple days to kill them.  Or you can put a bug zapper on the ground next to their hole.  Don't actually plug it in to turn it on until you are well away from the hole.

not sure if you live in town or country but out in the country we just pour some gasoline down the hole and light it. the ones that get away typically won't come back.
