How do you get sand out of a bathing suit lining?

I'm asking this in the newborn & baby section because I know a lot of you have little ones that sit down in the sand and water when you go to the beach. That's what we did today and my DD wore a cute little white bikini with polka dots, now the entire bottom half of the bikini is totally full of sand inbetween the lining and the outside. Since the bikini is white you can really see it. Any suggestions on how to get it out??

You may have to cut a slit in the lining to give it a way out. Which of course doesn't make any sense since it got in there perfectly well in the first place, right?!?

soak it, rinse it and wash it.  there is no secret sauce ;-)
