How do you get tree sap (from a pine tree) off a car?

Is the pine sap baked on or is it still fresh? Anyway, I would first use P21s Total Auto Wash on the pine sap and let it sit dwell for a few minutes; let the degreaser break down the sap a little bit (note: p21s TAW is a moderate degreaser that is safe on paint) . Next, agitate using a microfiber mitt or lamb wool mitt. Than, do a thorough wash using Dawn to break down residual contaminate on the paint. Rinse/dry then clay. Make sure you use enough lube and adequate pressure(excessive pressure=paint marring). Finally, follow through using a sealant or wax to protect the finish. You may want to do this ASAP because sap tends to etch the clear coat if left for a long time.

Get a claybar kit ,you can find one at most car parts stores that sell car washes and waxes. I would recommend Mothers California Gold, it comes in a red box, the cheapest i see it is like $16 at walmart. It works really well, you just use it as instructed and it will clean off ground in debris, tree sap, and even tar with ease. It's amazing how good it works. Do it to your whole car, then apply a wax to protect it. If you apply a wax, the sap wont stick to your paint, it will stick to the wax on top of your paint, and it will be a lot easier to remove, not to mention you wont damage the paint.

A good wax is Meguiars NXT (purple box) its kinda expensive though, about $15-$20. Works really well, in fact its still protecting the car after 2 months! Water just beeds right up and slides off my car, so i don't mind parking near sprinklers (i apply rain-x to the windows so water doesn't stay on them either!) If you want a cheaper wax that is still good, go for something like Meguiars Cleaner wax, comes in a dark red bottle and its only about $6 at most places. Works pretty well.

If you don't wanna do all that, you can just use some alcohol and wipe it off. Once its all broken off and loose, spray it with some water and it should all be gone.
