My friend had her CD on the top of the TV, were it would never fall off. But then her room mate nocked it over and it got scratches all over it. We tried looking up on the internet what to do and how to make it work again. We tried bannana, lotion, deotarant, toothpaste, both bubble gum and mint, and glass cleaner, al at separate times. We cant go to the store to get another one or get t fixed because it was a $60 game and her mom cant spend that much money again and my friend doesent have that much. So if you could kindly tell me somthing that would work and not break it more?

  1. First of all, applying anything into the scratches "to fill the gaps" won't work because the applied substances (lotion, oil, bubble gum) have different refraction rates to the plastic of the CD. Therefore, the CD reader's laser will not be able to read the data. I suggest you rinse any residue on the CD off and wipe off with a soft cloth.

If this CD/DVD game was made for the PC (not like for the Wii, PS3, or XBOX360), then I suggest you quickly put the CD into your computer and make an ISO image or file (a complete copy of the CD) of it so you can back up and burn the entire CD onto another CD. You can use Toast Titanium (for Mac) or Nero (PC) to do this. This may set off some antipiracy protection software embedded in the CD that prevents you from doing so (if applied), but it's still worth a shot.

  2. ummm...you cant really take them off....if the cd scratches it wouldnt work properly any more....so i think there isn' t anyway to take the scratches off the cd
