How do you get sponsered for surfing?

I was just wondering how do you go about being sponsered for surfing?

First of all, be good enough to go on the professional circuit.  Then go around to the local surf shops, hotels and restaurants and get them to sponsor you in return for advertising on your board and suit.  You need to be able to sell yourself.  The better you are on the circuit, the better the sponsorship will be.
