Question:

How do you get that warm color in your pictures?

I have a very good camera (Canon EOS Rebel Xsi) that takes wonderful, crisp, clean pictures. But my pictures are always bright. I love the look of the warm, soft colors, but I can't figure out how to get it. Is it by using a specific setting? Or perhaps a filter? And by the way, when should I use a filter?

Thanks!

It really depends on what you want the resulting photo to look like.

  3. Try taking pictures without a flash.  A flash will make the colors cooler and everything really sharp.

You can also use a photo editing program like Photoshop to warm up the colors and soften edges.

  4. You should really never use any filter unless it is necessary polarizer.  You want to a have a clean crisp image properly exposed to start with because you can easily tweak things with photoshop afterwards.  But you can't undo a soft image and make it sharp.

As for how to make it warmer... open the image in photoshop or whatever editing software you use and adjust the white balance... depending on software you'll likely see options or a slider to make it warmer or cooler... warmer will give the image more red cast while cooler will make it more of a blue cast.

As for wanting soft colors adjust the saturation and lower it to your liking.
