How do you get the best exhaust note from your car?

I recently bought an exhaust off ebay and installed it on my 180SX. It is a turbo back exhaust with a racing cat (hotdog pipe). The problem i have is it doesn't really have a nice note or well any exhaust note for that matter. Its just a low drooning, groaning note.

Any advice on how to imporve the sound and acutally give it a nice note?

the tighter the gap the more the note, you have an open exaust to let more power through but gives less note. different exhaust

Have just a back muffler(No front muffler or resonator) 2.5" Is a good size, 4/1 Headers, A cold air intake or pod filter can actually help a lot as well, But some cars just sound better than others
