How do you get the picture to fill up the whole screen?

Just got a new 42 in 1080i hdtv. The picture on any of the channels dosent fill up the whole screen. its only in the middle. how can i get the picture to fill up the entire screen.

on the button.. you probibly have a remote.. on there there is a "wide mode"button and that should work.. or if u dont have that go through ur tv/videos untill it shows the whole scree. sometimes channels are only viewed in the middle b/cuz they r not yet aired in full 1080

Look for an aspect or similarly labeled button on the remote.  If not it is in the menu.  Change the aspect to something such as FULL, JUSTIFY, or AUTO.  It is probably set in LETTERBOX.
