I bought a newer used car, but the previous owner obviously smoked. Now, there is this faint smell of smoke in the car. I've tried using Febreeze and keeping the windows open while in the garage to air out the car. What are some good suggestions to get rid of the smell?

  1. Soak a cloth in 1/3 white vinegar & 2/3 cold water. Use this to wipe inside of car. Vinegar helps to neutralise & absorb smell of smoke.

  2. zerooderstore.com

    great stuff,and cheap

  3. White vinegar.  You can do what someone else suggested above and soak a rag in vinegar and wipe down the car, or you could get a small bowl or cup, put about 1/4 inch of white vinegar in it then place in the car overnight.  The vinegar will evaporate and remove the smoke smell at the same time.

I'm a smoker and I use this in my house, put little bowls of white vinegar in the corners of each room and before long there's no more smoke smell.  I use it in the laundry too.

  4. Get it detailed!

  5. Wipe everything down that can be cleaned with water with your favorite cleaner. Shampoo the seats and carpet. Keep the doors open when you can. Use a nice smelling car freshener.

  6. More fabreeze  (spray a TON then leave it with windows closed over night) and then open the windows and drive down the highway for half an hour it should help
