We cooked fried potatoes, and some grease popped onto the burner, and also I accidentally burned a few.

Well, now the place stinks. It is a duplex, only about 900-1000 sq ft. Our eyes are burning a lot. It is late, and too hot to open windows but I will try that tomorrow.

Other than airing the place out, is there anything to do with the smell?

I have some lemons on hand..that's about it without going to the store.

Thanks!!

  1. Put a small amount of ammonia in a glass. This will absorb the odor.

  2. ~~Open all windows and if you have a box fan you can set up in one facing out then set that up, it will remove it quickly. If no fan-then set bowls of white vineage around your house it will help absorb the smoke odor quicker than just airing out alone. Also turn on your stove's exhaust vent. Best of luck!~~

  3. My advise to you if you have smoke in your house is to open all the windows and if there is an exaust fan in the kitchen turn that on. Better too hot than die of smoke inhalation. Plus, the longer the smoke is in the house the more stink you have to get rid of!  Call the fire dept. for answers on how to remove the smell after the smoke is cleared. DO NOT  use the emergency number. Call the NON emergency number to ask them.

  4. open the windows..have a cool shower

light a candle or two to help with the smell

don't forget to clean off the heat element on the stove or you will have this problem the next time you cook
