How do you get to Gernika, Spain via public transportation?

I'm looking to go to Northern Spain this summer and cannot seem to figure out how to get to Gernika (Guernica) via public transport. Any ideas?

It would help to know your starting point: Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pamplona, Logrono, Burgos, somewhere further west?

From Bilbao, for example, you can get to Gernika by EuskoTren - the local Basque railway line, not RENFE - or by bus.  The trip takes about an hour by train, don't know how long the bus takes.
