  1. it takes a lot of hard work and determination. you need to be willing to start from the bottom and work your way up. the first big step is getting your foot in the door. either by getting an internship or a entry level job at a station. once your in, you need to network. be willing for anything and make sure your bosses know your ready for business. then once you feel confident enough and have a demo then go to you program director and pitch your show or yourself (depending on what type of radio you want to do), that should just be a quick preview and then hand them your demo. dont expect they will listen to it right then and there. but thank them and head out and hope they will listen.

as for the salary there is no general or set salary for any radio host. with radio its all unpredicatible. like you never know if youll have your job tomorrow. there is no one way to getting a job in radio and there is not any specific salary. its all based on how valuable you are.

i work in radio and if youd like to ask me anything feel free

  2. Usually small town stations have openings to fill on weekend and nights and look for new talent to cultivate then..As you get better, they move you up .. But unless you start at a college station, you are limited to board op or small town DJ and last job I was offered part time at $8/hour at a small town station

  3. I might be able to answer this question if you can tell us what country you live in.

  4. I do not know myself technically - but may I recommend reading the both of Chris Moyles' autobiographies (if you are in the UK, if not then don't worry as you won't know him), where he talks about how he got to where he is in radio today - all the way from hospital radio, to Radio TopShop to BBC Radio 1

  5. Just get a bunch of radios together.

  6. In the U.S.A. lots of radio people started at their college radio station.  Many others started as interns at a local station.
