yup any instant messaging on your phone counts as your texts so if you send 100 aim messages then 100 of your texts messages are gone therefore if you have unlimited texts then yes you have unlimited for all instant message icons

no, you have to have texting to text for free. if you're texting another at&t customer and thinking that it doesnt cost money, if you dont have texting, it actually is.

Instant messaging counts against your texts, but don't misunderstand, there is still Data, being transfer, so you are also being charged for that! To send/receive messages, it charges you both Data, and text (unfair i know.)

I know this because, my dad got the unlimited family messaging package, where you could text, pic, vid, and Im unlimitedly, they just didn't tell us about the amount of data i was transfering in the process... the only thing that doesn't transfer data is regular old text. Try having your IM's forwarded I use that. Or just get unlimited internet on your phone and use m.ebuddy.com works like a charm!
