My dog has this big bear. She likes to hump it. We hid it, then she found it and still tried to hump it. We got her 'fixed'. But she still does that. Have any suggestions?

  1. Put it on YouTube with the rest of the pooches.  My room-mates' cat humps a stuffed rabbit.  The cat is fixed (so is the rabbit).  The vet says it is nothing to worry about.

  2. My grannies dog did this all the time to a toy cat she had, she was fixed, and still no help, it is so embarassing they finally took the cat toy away, it was the only toy she ever did it too, I don't know if it was the smell or what. But I would just throw the toy away.

  3. Spray the toy with a animal friendly spray that has a repelling smell.

I believe citrus is a smell that dogs don't like.. You can just spray the toy down with this "nasty smelling" spray and she should leave it alone. You won't be able to smell it, but since dogs have a finer sense of smell, she will detect it and be "grossed out" literally.

You can buy these sprays at a pet store. They can even be used on furniture if you have problems with her chewing etc.

Once she gets over the humping phase.. wash it... and she should be able to play with it normally

  4. Take the bear away. and number two has it right... she is showing the bear whos boss...

You should video it and put it on you tube and yell in the back ground yeah give it to it sheila (dogs name).  thats right girl you show her whos boss.

  5. Shes not humping because shes horny or anything. humping is how dogs claim dominance. Thats why female dogs sometimes hump male dogs. so shes not trying to get her jollys off or anything, shes just trying to show that bear whos boss.

Your dog thinks of that bear as her playmate, as she would another dog. if you take it away, she could get depressed like dogs do when their playmate dies or moves away.

just let her hump it. It may look strange, but thats all shes doing, telling the bear that she runs the show.

  6. Throw the toy away.

  7. she's probally trying to show her dominiance

  8. either throw away the toy or hide it in a place where she can't possibly find.

  9. Take her to the vet and ask them to withdraw hormones?

  10. Well, then just throw it out.  I mean, unless it's really important there's no point in just hiding it.

  11. She's not humping it for sexual reasons...a lot of dogs do that to show their dominance over something...in this case it's the bear. She's showing it who's boss.

  12. i was going to say get her fixed but shes fixed so just let her do it, why not??

  13. Take away the toy.

  14. thats kinda funny as long as she is not doing it to humans.dont hide the bear, throw it out. give her a lil tap  and say no when she does it. she will learn.maybe a lil spray bottle, if she starts doing it to something else.

  15. Yeah, just laugh and move on with your life.  I think this would rank the lowest on my list of priorities.

  16. Stash the bear away in a closet.

  17. Shes not humping cuz its horny or anything. humping is how dogs show dominance. Thats why female dogs sometimes hump male dogs. so shes not trying to get her rocks off or anything, shes just trying to show that toy whos alpha
