Ok I have been doing my family's laundry for EVER!!! and I don't recall ever bleeding the colors into whites. Well now I have! I put a new orange shirt in with a regular load.... oops.

So I have a solid white tank, white tank with bright colored ribbons, and a concert shirt that are now orange tinged. I immediately rewashed the load with Tide with bleach alternative but the 2nd wash did nothing... I know I can bleach bleach the solid tank, but what can I do about the other stuff????

I have a new HE front load washer if that is a needed info????

  1. Add 1 cup of vinegar to the load, but make sure to wash the clothes my themself, otherwise the color will leak onto other clothes. Don't add too much bleach, or it will make the clothes turn yellow, not white. You could try the premium bleach, the one you can pour directly onto clothes for the plain tank, or a bleach pen on the striped one, as you can put it on just the white part and it won't seep into the colored part. Try the vinegar first though, and then try the bleach. Wash it with regular laundry detergent plus the cup of vinegar.

One important tip: DON'T dry the clothes if you haven't gotten the desired result, as the heat will set the colors in.

  2. The Oxy Clean might work, and so might the vinegar. My Sister always uses the Oxy Clean. I like to use Twenty Mule Team Borax, and Clorox Bleach along with Tide for keeping whites, white. Wash whites in the hottest water allowed for the material. Whites with color on them, I wash in cold or warm water. I found out that whenever I used dry bleach for colors  with my clothes, the color runs. Every time. I quit using a product that has both soap and bleach combined. And never put your clothes in until the washer has started up and the soaps and bleaches have had time to compleatly mix together. I think I woud try the Oxy first, because the Borax isn't a stain remover,it just maintains the whiteness. Byee
