Question:

How do you get your address off of catalog mailing lists?

I get at least 5 catalogs per day in the mail, which is a total waste of paper! They go right into the recycle bin! Does anyone know how to get your address removed from the large data bank that catalog companies use?

By the way, you can "Opt Out" of getting credit card offers and mortgage offers in the mail (i.e. Junk Mail!)

Be sure to list everyone in your household!!

I've done this and it has considerably reduced the junk mail I get!! Now, if I can only find a way to eliminate those catalogs....

  1. You could try writing "RETURN TO SENDER" on the catalogue & send it back.  I believe that the sender has to pay postage again to have it sent back to them.  It may take a while, but eventually they should stop sending to you. I'm trying it on all of my junk mail; haven't been doing it too long though so not working yet.

    Good luck!

  3. We had that problem this year too.

I called every 1-800 number of each catalog, may need to provide the code from catalog, with success.

There were 28 different catalogs, some were from the same company just different departments.

It's easy to do, and best with a speaker phone. All the customer service people were very pleasant.

  4. one at a time... you need to call them.. Maybe in the future we will have some system like all these other ones coming out..

  5. If you just call up the number on the back of the catalogs and ask them to remove you from the list they have to.  I know its tedious, but its the only free way.  There is a website where you can remove yourself from direct mail registries, but unfortunately you have to pay for it every year.

  6. Try greendimes.com

they offer a good service, and they plant a tree for your annual fee!

I haven't tried it, though there might be an easier way.  Worst comes to worst, just call the companies directly and ask to be deleted off the list.

  8. The best solution I've found is website that's in beta right now called Catalog Choice.  Create a free account, then every time you receive a catalog you don't want, log on to the website and tell them which catalog you don't want to receive, plus your customer number on the mailing label of the catalog, and Catalog Choice will contact the vendor on your behalf to unsubscribe you. www.CatalogChoice.org.
