  1. Ask him what is more important to him than drinking.

  2. well I can tell you what NOT to do from my own experience, plan an intervention and upon close examination find his eyeballs have already started to turn yellow.  Line up his funeral home.  Sorry to be so blunt but an intervention may possibly work, we waited too long for my Dad and he died at 53.

  3. I'm really sorry, but you can not make your dad stop drinking.  Only he can do that.  If he has a problem he needs help, such as A.A.  You can talk to him, let him know it's a problem for you, and encourage him to get help.  But ultimately it's something he has to do, with help from a good support group.

As for yourself, I would suggest checking into al-anon.com.  It's a good support group for people who have an alcoholic family member or loved one.

My heart is with you, as I grew up with alcoholic parents and I am a recovering alcoholic.  I hope your Dad finds his recovery.  God bless you.

  4. tell him u gonna leave him if he wont stop it because u cant support this anymore...u need a dad who is sober..

  5. Is it a serious drinking problem? Get a councilor and get more info on alcohol. If it gets out of hand one day call the police.

  6. tell him to go to rehab

  7. If he enjoys drinking, let him drink.

If he's abusive or not fulfilling his commitments, talk to him about that when the time is right.

My Dad drank a LOT, and I couldn't have asked for a better father.  He loved me and raised me right.  Drinking was just something he did that didn't affect him being a great father.

  8. pour out his bottle of vodka and refill it with water. but in a serious way? tell him it bothers you. don't say rehab or he'll feel threatened. just ask him to tone it down. and it's only bad if it negatively affects your or his or someone's life. if its only on weekends or in evenings and its a beer or two, leave him alone

  9. Take away his alcohol

  10. You could do what David Hasslehoff's daughter did.  She filmed him.  The video may speak louder than words!!!

  11. Talk to him or ask him how can you help him.

  12. You don't that is his problem. You take care of yourself. Best Wishes. My Dad was a drinker too.
