You know the highest level where you have to keep your home all orginal and the goverment gives you a tax cut?

My new house is 200 years old- and we don't have a historical society in my town. I am starting to research on my house but I was wondering if anyone has heard or knew how to get involved in this?

  1. You want your house declared a National Historical Site?

For this you contact the National Archives, they handle and manage the nations historical inventory of items, including property.

You are going to need iron clad proof that your house is of importance to our national history.

Lower you have State Historical Site, the states historical society manages that.   Again, you need to have some serious proof since it has not already been registered.

  2. You start at the city and apply to have your neighborhood designated as a Historic Area.  It takes about 8 months. /
