  1. In many states you have public schools that are called virtual schools. They are a home school program ran by the public school system and generally they mail the books and computer free of charge. The computer is just a loan "you have to return it when your done" but it's a great program.  You can look on the Internet for homeschooling information and you will be overwhelmed. Stick to a general local area and they can help you get on your way. Typically the school district where you live will have all the home schooling information that you need. Usually they require your parent or guardian to provide them with a letter of intent to home school. This is just a legal way of them not charging your parent or guardian for truancy. I would not recommend Penn Foster for home school. Yes, it is a great school but it has a plethora of cheaters on the Internet that are more then willing to help kids out. Why go to school if someone else is going to do the work for you? Good luck kiddo!!!

  2. If you go to a local bookstore you can find the books that you would like to use.  Also, make sure that if your state has specific material that you need to learn that you buy them.  For instance, some states require kids to take the state exams.  Go to your local bookstore and purchase state practice exam books.  If your state doesn't have anything specific then just pick out books that you would like to learn.  For instance, if you feel comfortable doing high school math in middle school, then go for it. :) Make sure that your work is not too easy for you.  The best thing about being homeschooled is that you get to work at your own pace and learn what you feel comfortable learning.

  3. Whatever school you will be associated with, should have the "books" and other materials that you require. Also, if any difficulty arises, then contact the Governor of your state. I trust that this helps you. Peace, Love and God Bless.

Calvert's is a good curriculum, it can be hard if you let yourself get behind, but it's a great education.

I'd watch out for lesser curriculum providers, some are easier, but offer c**p as far as an education.

  6. There are many ways/methods of homeschooling.  Perhaps you can refer your mother to the site below, and she can decide what would be the best way to homeschool you.

Most homeschooling parents find out their child's learning style and then homeschool their child according to learning style; a link to a learning style assessment/survey is below:

Some parents choose to use a "school in a box" curriculum, complete with books, lesson plans, teacher's guides, etc.  Other create their own curriculum using state guidelines.  Below is a link to an affordable Christian homeschool curriculum:

There are many other homeschool curriculum available, both Christian and secular.  The best way to find them is by doing an internet search.

Here is a link to state curriculum standards:

I hope this information is helpful.

  8. You have to research the different methods of HS'ing and all the different curricula available.  The first place to start is to figure out your learning style.

If you do a 'net search for "homeschooling" you'll get a ton of hits.  I would first look up your state's HS'ing association.  Then see if there are local groups.  They'll lead you on from there.

Also, read the archives of this forum to also jump start your knowledge.

They will also work with you on payments. The books come in the mail. As for knowing what classes you need they are the same requirements requested of you in school. Call the board of education for number of credits and subject to graduate.

  11. It depends on what you are looking for, there are many sources.

The most well known in the home school community are those that come completely prepared, and boxed for each grade level.

We do not use the, we put our own together since the children work at their own pace, meaning they may be at different grade levels in different subjects.

I'll give you a few web sites to check out, these companies carry both the curriculum's in a box as well as many other choices.

Good luck to you and your mom.

  12. In our state you can choose your own curriculum.  We chose eclectic (this and that).  The library has books, second hand stores have books, and the internet has a wealth of information.

You can learn almost anything you would like to learn with free and cheap resources.
