About 1 year ago i lost my licnense for a first (And last) time DUI.

I can get it back if i go into the court house with SR22 on my vehicle.

Only problem is that i can't put SR22 on a vehicle if i can't register or get plates for a vehicle without my driver license...

So if i can't register a car without my license, and can't get my license back unless i have a car with SR22 insurance how do i ever get my license back?

Confusing....

Can anyone explaine the process for me? Because the D.M.V. is NO help at all.

  1. go to a local insurance agent.  they can write your policy and file the sr22 for you.  then go to the  dmv and get your license back.  once you have your license go and register the car.  we write policies with sr22 filing all the time so people can get their licenses back.  you need to get the policy and your license  the same day so that when the company issues the policy they can see in the dmv system that it has been reinstated.

  2. My grandson received his drivers license back and it included a letter stating it was okay to drive now. He then was stopped for a tail light out and then found out the license was not reinstated after DUI. He was jailed and had to post bond. He was told to get a SR22 insurance and then fill out a form and take it to motor vehicle and ask for a restricted license to drive to and from school and/or work.

This is in TN.   I am not sure you have to have your old license to get this restricted one as it will be different.  Now he is told if he has this license then they will most likely drop the last charge when he goes to court.
