how to i get my surname changed? what does it involve??

You visit your seat of government, go to the department of vital statistics and tell them you want to change your name. You tell them the new name, pay the fee and you're done. There are a few restrictions - you can't adopt someone else's name (ie, you can't decide you want to be Hilary Clinton or Barak Obama) and you can't have a name that is a slur on any other group, or is considered unacceptable language. And you have to have reached legal age to change it. If you aren't there yet, you need to have your parents change it for you,

That is not a genealogy question.  It is a legal question.  AND the laws of such thing as well as fees involved vary from state to state and country to country.  You need to contact the courts in your town for that information.  If you still want to get "opinions" of people on Yahoo about it, then re-post your question in the legal forum.
