How do you get your parents to let you drive somewhere?

my mom is really strict about me driving and thinks i'm gonna die if i drive on the freeway.

My parents were like this too, even after passing my test they were really over-protective about how much they would let me drive.

The way I got around this was to actually start driving them places. Whenever my mum or dad needed to go into town or go shopping, I would offer to drive them - eventually after driving with me for long enough they realised I was actually a competent driver and i wasn't going to kill myself, and started to let me drive around on my own.

So basically, the reason that your mom is really strict is because she probably doesn't realise that you are actually a good driver and thinks you will die if you drive around too much on your own, you need to show her first hand that she has nothing to worry about.

Get her drunk and be the designated driver.

You just need to slowly build their confidence in you.  Drive around the neighborhood a few times, to show that you can do it.  Drive on the freeway once with an adult that they trust.   After a few months they will get used to it and realize that it's safe.
