I connected my dtv converter according to the instructions. I can play movies on my vcr but I can't record. When I hit the record botton, all I get is static. Has anyone been able to hook up their vcrs and record programs?

  1. Be sure the Video/Audio OUT are going into the VCR's Video/Audio IN and then the VCR's Video/Audio OUT are going into the TV's Video/Audio IN or else it won't work

  2. YOU DON'T

  3. You connect the VCR as you would another TV.  If you only have one converter, you can only record what you are watching.  If you want to watch one thing and record another, then you need two converters.  Obviously, you need to connect an antenna to the converter and scan for channels first.

Method 1:  Connect the video and audio out from the converter to the video and audio in on the VCR.  Make sure you set your VCR to record from the LINE inputs.

Method 2: Connect the coax output from the converter to the antenna in on the VCR.  Set your VCR to the same channel the converter is outputting (usually channel 3 or 4).  You will need to consult the instructions that came with your converter box for how to set the output channel.

    I hope this helps.
