I have a Lite ON DVD burner and after tinkering with it through an info tool, I have found that it has no region code. This is a problem only cause i want to play DVD's I bought in the store on the computer. But if I give it a code....what are the consequences ?

  1. You can change the region code up to 4 times (depends on the DVD drive)... The last one is final.

After it's final, you can use software to "simulate" a region code if you keep playing DVDs from several regions (which is quite unlikely unless you travel a lot).

  2. Most DVD players these days are becoming "multi-regional".  Mostly because of the software you use to play the DVD's.  I would suggest you check the region settings in Windows Media player.  If the correct region is set up there, you are set.
